I am researching Esther Baylis b 1798 Ledbury
married Robert Skeates 1825 Bristol
parents of Esther are William Baylis and Mary Barnett married 1786 Ledbury
Mary possibly the daughter of Joseph Barnett and Nancy Smith married 1786 Ledbury
Mary Barnett Baylis named her first son Edward Smith Baylis 1787 Ledbury died 1826 Ledbury and had a brother Edward Smith Barnett in 1762 died 1780 from consumption
The Skeates family were quite well off but had businesses, so am looking for
connections that might have had similar ways of life, not ag labs etc.
There is a Nancy Barnett died 1793 Ledbury age 37 ..if this was 57 it could possibly
be the mother of Mary. I was given the date of death of Joseph Barnett as 1797 in Bristol, but there is a Joseph Barnett died 1797 in Ledbury age 72.
This would give him a birth year of c 1728 and the possible parents of Thomas Barnett
and Mary Lewes.
Cannot find a Nancy Smith born around 1735 -1740, with possible an Edward Smith as father or brother ?
Esther Bayliss had some brothers and sister who I have not been able to identify.
No marriage found for Edward Smith Baylis

Thomas 1793 possible marriage to Sarah Hill 1825 Ledbury lived Brook Farm/House Colwall.

Baptism Place: Tarrington, Hereford, England
Father: Edward Smith
Tarrington is about 6 miles WNW of Ledbury.

In case you haven’t tried this already:-
If you access FamilySearch and search Last Name BAYLIS (no first name) in Herefordshire (tick the “match exactly” box) with “Father’s First name” William and “Mother’s First Name” Mary (Year range left blank) you will find quite a few hits which might be of interest. These are in Ledbury, Aylton and Pixley. The latter two are about 3 miles west of Ledbury.
