Brown & Harris families (General)

by Sue Nelms @, Thursday, November 18, 2010, 18:56 (5124 days ago)

I am trying to make sense of my maternal family! My great grandfather was Charles James Brown (born 1838 in Wickwar) who became a butcher in Lydney. He married Clara Jane Harris of Lydney (born about 1851) and her father Henry's family seems to have come from Woolaston. Here my trail seems to end... Please can anyone help?

Many thanks.

Hi again Chris (yes I did them in the wrong order!). I think that the Eleanor is a transcription error probably because all of the census entries are positive about Ellen. Thank you for finding the wedding records - I had wondered if she was a Ball as one of the census returns had the couple living with a John Ball but I had not managed to find anything to confirm it. Once more thank you - this is so exciting!

searching for records.....

I find sometimes, it difficult to find a marriage or baptism by searching individually.

By putting in the % sign in the surname, and calling up all the baptisms/marriages etc in a Parish for that year - I find them this way!!!

Eleanor BALL is on the records as Eleanor BALE - and John's marriage is there as well - again I found him by searching for all the names for that year, after finding them on my disc first
