There are several Richard James' buried at Bream . . . In 1838, Richard, husband of Hannah, aged 24; in 1844, Richard, husband of Ann, aged 83; in 1861, Richard, age 82, no spouse noted. Is one of these gentleman Ira's father?
At least in my family tree, very few of the burials list grave numbers, and Bream doesn't seem to be an exception to that rule. But I'm certainly no expert.
Even having had a grave number when I was searching for a family grave in one churchyard, the best advice I had from the vicar in searching for the stone was to watch for adders in the tall grass. An additional complication in the Forest, as I remember, is that the local stone is very soft, and doesn't weather well. Even my family stone circa 1918 was barely legible in 1983.
Perhaps someone in the Bream area can offer more advice . . .
