1911 England/Wales Summary Books - Ancestry (General)

The 1911 England & Wales (Channel Islands & Isle of Man) Summary Books are on Ancestry - this lists the Head of the household/address and number of people living in the house males/females. Not sure if it runs from household to household, and does show up all the neighbours.... but looking at the 1901 census, it would appear it does.
this is my family (WICKENDEN) as an example (Enumerator Frank HULIN)

There is greater detail available on 1911census.co.uk but you have to buy credits in order to see the information. I have found the few people for whom I was searching, and wasted a few more credits because until you've paid to view the record you don't know if it's the correct one or not, but I still have some credits left over if anyone would like me to look anything up for them. The more info you have the better, because as I said it takes credits to discover one is barking up the wrong tree . . .

I do have credits for the 1911 census, but found it interesting following the neighbours of my family, and building up a picture of the people living in the same area+ premises i.e. Blacksmith/Carpenter Shops/Pub which were near by. As my x grandfather bred shire horses, Summary List, told me he didn't go far to have this horses shod.

There's an interesting hint on the Lost Cousins site for getting more information from the 1911 census at no extra cost when using the Summary Books from Ancestry and the 1911census.co.uk census site.
In the example given here, the source for the Wickenden family in the 1911 Summary Book can be seen as:
Source Citation: Class: RG78; Piece: 920 with a schedule number of 106.
This can be combined into a (free) search on the 1911 site for "Wickenden" using the advanced Census Reference field "RG78PN920 SN106" (note that the space before SN seems to be critical) which gives us the family names and ages:

WICKENDEN FANNY F 1881 30
WICKENDEN HARRY M 1886 25
WICKENDEN REGINALD M 1897 14
WICKENDEN WILLIAM M 1844 67
Note though that the census reference itself is not unique - repeating the search without the surname here will give about 20 names from a number of families. This is because there are several enumerators' books in use for each RG and Piece combination. This can cause confusion when searching for common surnames - as in my case when looking up Meek families using reference RG78PN921 SN58 which gives 16 names - corresponding to a family of 8 in East Dean District 4 (Ruardean Hill), 5 in District 3 (Harry Hill) and 3 in District 7 (Cinderford) - so some prior knowledge is useful in these cases.
