John Bethell born about 1792 (General)

I am looking for the parents of John Bethell born about 1792.
I have tracked my husbands family back to John Bethell, a plasterer, marrying Elizabeth Malson(born 1800 in Forest of Dean,)in 1818 in Cheltenham St.Marys.
Their children, known to me, were James bap 1820 St.Mary's Cheltenham, John circa 1824, Matilda circa 1828, Elizabeth circa 1831, Frederick circa 1834,Catherine circa 1836,Thomas b.1839, Martha b.1841 and another child who lived only 1 day also named John b.1845.
Sons John and Frederick were both plasterers, John moving to London and Frederick remaining near the Forest of Dean.
John Bethell senior died in Cheltenham in 1845 aged 53, therefore born about 1792. I have not been able to take his line any further back and would be grateful for any suggestions/information. I did recently see a record for John baptized at Monmouth in 1792 to John and Martha Bethell and wondered if this was my next link back?

Thank you for your quick replies I will look into them. I have often thought there was a link to the Lydney Bethells but nothing concrete and think that John Bethell married Ann Jordan

Do you have a copy of the marriage - witnesses etc?

James BETHEL - christened at Cheltenham St Mary - 19 November 1820
his parents are listed as James BETHEL (Plaisterer) & Elizabeth
John BETHEL - christened 17 November 1822 - parents John BETHEL (Plaisterer) & Elizabeth
these are the only two BETHEL's christenings listed.
