HATTON John 1774 (General)

Hello

I am researching the HATTON family tree in the Ruardean area and wonder if you could help.

One of my distant relations, John Hatton born 1801 in Hope Mansell, was the son of John Hatton Snr born March 1774 in Ruardean in 1774. John snr was married to Elizabeth Betty Hatton, nee Powell in or around 1798. They had 8 children including John jr and an infant still birth.

John Hatton Snr was the son of Phillip Hatton (born 1746 Ruardean) and Jane Hatton (born 1747 Ruardean), nee Eddy. He was one of 7.

I would love to know what the family trade was and I am hitting a brick wall at the moment. I would welcome any information anyone could give.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Sarah

John Hatton of 1801 was an agricultural labourer. His brother Thomas was a yeoman so there may be a possibility of an agricultural background. Many of the Hattons later went down the mines of course as did many other agricultural communities.
Best wishes

Hi Sarah. As you can see my surname is HATTON, and John 1774 is my direct line GGGGF,
John 1801 GGGF, John 1835 GGF, James 1876 GF, James 1907 F, James 1935 (me).

This line goes back 5 more generations to John 1616. My branch all in Ruardean until John 1801 married Mary JONES in 1833 and moved to Cwmcarvan, MON. In 1700's were in Abertillary, MON, coal mining and in 1926 emigrated to Western Canada were I live. Other branches still in UK(GLS) and some now intnational.

There are many HATTON researchers with extensive databases. My database is some 1000 persons either HATTON's or nee connected. While Sarah is not uncommon, I do not recognize DUNLOP. Please make contact at jehatton@dccnet.com and we can discuss the family.
