William SIMMONDS 1853 Lydbrook (General)

This has been very useful to me. My great grandfather was George Partridge Simmonds - so thanks to this thread I've managed to go back to 1795 (via John b. 1831 to William b.1795.)

George P. Simmonds and his family uprooted to Hartlebury in Worcesterhire following George in his trade as a stationary steam engine operator at Willden ironworks nr. Stourport.

My grandfather, George H. Simmonds went on to work his way up to the post of relief stationmaster with the GWR at Birmingham's Snow Hill station. One of his brothers, another Cornelius Simmonds, followed in his father's role as the engine operator at the ironworks.
