My grand mother, Lucy Jane Burgham was born in 1916 in a place called Bowson, East Dean. Where is Bowson?

Does anybody know.

Thanks

Looking at an 1894 map of the Coal and Iron Gales of the Forest there is Bowson Colliery which is just north of Cinderford this could be the location you are looking for.

Bowson House is on the Cinderford to Steam Mills rd, near the junction that takes you into the Industrial area - Forest Vale / Broadmoor ?

There was a small mine working here - Bowson , New Bowson Deep, Whimsey- are names you might find, as well as a freeminer grant in 1843 to Cornelius Walding of Ruardean Hill for the Bowson Gale.

Sadly Bowson House is long gone - a playground of my childhood. I was dear friends with Gary Baker who lived there with parents and grandparents.
