William Charles Lake Bennett, is my Wife's Great Great Grandfather. The information that I have is as follows (Hope this makes sense)

William Charles Lake Bennett (b1863) married Emily Evans(bJune 1862 in Deans Hill) in Littledean on 14 April 1884.

Known Children
Arthur James b.12 Apr 1885 (As this is my wife's line I have full ancestral details)
Eva b. App 1889
Annie b. App 1892
Edith May b. App 1895
Elizabeth b. App 1899
Margarate b. App 1901
Hubert b. App 1903

I have found great difficulty in finding William Charles Lake's Birth details under his known name.

With the invaluable assistance of the Forest of Dean transcripts I have come to the conclusion that William Charles Lake Bennett was either an illigitamate child born to William Charles Bennett and Emma Grafton while she was married to someone else or that William Charles lake Bennett is not the biological son of William Charles Bennett.

Children of William Charles Bennett and Emma
William Charles Lake (b 1863)
Arthur James (b 1867)
Albert Henry (b 1869)
Martha (b 1869)
Henry (b 1871)
Daniel
Richard (b 1884)
Emma (b 1889)

As I could not find the birth certifcate for William CHarles Lake I moved through the other children and found a Birth certificate for Albert Henry. This states that his Mother is Emma Bennett (formerly Grafton).

I could find no marriage records for William Bennett to Emma Grafton.

I eventually found a marriage of a John Leeke to a Emma Grafton in 1860.

I then found a the baptism of a William Charles Leek

Record_ID: 64911

Parents_Surname: LEEK
Child_Forenames: William Charles
Fathers_Forenames: [base born]

Mothers_Surname:

Moving on from this I then found a marriage certificate for a William Bennett to Emma Leake in Highnam on 3 March 1866.

I have no concrete evidence that my theory is correct and I'm not sure if I ever will but many of the pieces seem to point to this. Not sure how I will determine which blood line to follow.

If you want to let me have a contact email we can exchange more information.
