Just looking at my copy of Monmouth & Its Buildings by Keith Kissack in which he says " The chapel, opended in 1844 was designed by William Armstrong of Bristol and built by B Lawrence of Monmouth"
In 1851 the only B Lawrence in Monmouth is this chap -
LAWRENCE, Charles Head Married M 40 1811 Builder & Stone Mason Clearwell, Glo
LAWRENCE, Ellen Wife 38 1813 Monmouthshire
LAWRENCE, Benjamin Son Unmarried M 17 1834 Assisting In Business, Mon
6 more children and a servant, living in St Mary's St.
Benjamin seems a little young for such an important commission! Perhaps his father was the builder, with help from Benjamin?
