Benjamin KEAR married Charlotte ROBINS at Newland on 11 May 1816 by consent of parents. Charlotte was baptised illegitimate on 18 May 1796 at Bream so was probably under 21 on marriage.

Among their children they had Leonora on 03 Aug 1817 and Benjamin in about 1829. The only Benjamin KEAR to appear on any census irrespective of county is the one born in about 1829, suggesting that his father had died by 1841.

The only Benjamin KEAR alive on their marriage day was buried on 20 Feb 1836 aged 72, suggesting that he was 52 at marriage. While possible, rather unlikely?

Leonora KEAR married Samuel WILKS on 27 Mar 1839 when her father Benjamin is recorded as a labourer. She was married again on 19 Dec 1851 to George SUMMERS when her father is recorded as an engineer. What was the recording protocol i.e. is it possible that these refer to previous occupations, or do they imply he was still alive on these dates?
