Dear Descendent

100 years ago in 2011, we dutifully filled out the 10 yearly Census - I hope you enjoy the little details that we have recorded, just as I have taken pleasure in uncovering details of your and my ancestors from previous census data.

There have been many changes in my circumstances and place of abode over the last 6 or 7 census returns - assuming you have managed to "find" me - how I enjoyed solving those "..can't find X in 1851 or 1861" challenges !

I hope the National Trust or similar charity body has stepped in and saved that piece of Heritage so dear to me , and many others - the Forest. Please take some time to track down the earthly remains of your ancestors and savor the peaceful resting places they enjoy and think back to the many who toiled underground or on the land - they have shaped what you are today.

The Census is just a snapshot - probably filled in one evening or Sunday afternoon - but none the less taken with the history you will find here, you should be able to understand the changing Social and economic history of your forbears.

Enjoy

best regards

S

long may the DNA line continue :-)
