Hello all,
Can anyone enlighten me as to where this is in Walford, and any information regarding this place ?
All I know of this place is from the record that = Mark Banks Inn keeper and his Wife Ann lived here in 1843 when they had a Son Henry.

P.S. If anyone has heard from Ann Sutie . Please give here my regards as e.mail does not reach her and I have miss placed other contact details for her.

Thank you Sir. Thanks to all the Gentlemen who listed these threads.
I am certainly a lot more informed about my Mark and his Family. Really want to go and have a "wander" about this area to see if I could find anything on the ground so to speak. Unfortunately my pension does not permit. So will have to do so in my "minds eye" so to speak, as I suspect so many others on this site have to.
This site has provided me "A Welsh stray" with so much information , I would have very little without it (and a certain Lady from the other side of the World). The biggest thanks you to you all!

I have a link here to my Family Tree. That it may be of interest to some of you. I realise that it badly needs updating ,regarding my "first William" especially. But now on different P.C. and some problem regarding access and socket 80 ?????. Anyway please do me the favour if possible and let me know if you are able to "view Internet tree" via JAVA viewer on this link.

Yours Sincerly Mr L.Banks.

If you use Google maps - and the walking man, you will probably be able to walk around parts of the area visually on the 'net'....

www.maps.google.co.uk

type in the postcode - HR9 5SD

and look for the 'man' symbol - and drag him over the map....

Hi Mr Banks (from the other side of the world from the FoD)

It will not work for me either - same problem as you regarding access and socket 80. It may be my firewall stopping me, but perhaps there is a problem with the website itself.

Cheers, John (NZ)

There is a newspaper report in the Ross Gazette, August 8th, 1867, that mentions a cottage called Pewstys. It belongs to Daycroft Farm. Daycroft Farm can be found on maps and a nearby cottage, labelled as Daycroft Cottage, would seem to fit as being Pewstys. I have a Will that mentions Pewstys and orchards and the cottage on the map has an orchard. Not definite but quite likely I think. The map can be viewed at https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=51.88215&lon=-2.59633&layers=1...
