Witnesses: George & Hannah THOMAS (General)

Thank you so much for your help I am 6,000 miles away and the proximity of these various parishes is a puzzle for me!

I like the idea of their witnesses being their neighbours well spotted!

I was going to track every marriage between 1801 - 1804 who had a son named John.

I thought that maybe John might be named for his father in John and Elizabeth, the family also named their daughters elizabeth or

Maybe, father James and Ann Lydney, John and Jane's their first son was names James? was it a tradition to name the first son after the father or grandfather

any other ideas?I am discounting the age in the 1841 census, so we are looking at a birth in 1801 Abington, Newland?
1804 Alvington - blaleney, Chepstow

or 1803 East Dean, near cinderford / Littledean

how come he didn
t know where he was born?
