Hello
I am looking for information on a possible drowning, sometime between the 1901 census and the 1911 Census
William Watkins (born 1880), son of William Watkins & Eliza Dorrington of Woolaston, Glos is listed on the 1901 Census at Norman's Head, Woolaston
There is no sign of him on the 1911 Census and family information handed down cites a drowning of a son of William Watkins Snr
I cannot find any burial details for him, nor can I find a suitable BMD death record in this area
If anyone has access to newspaper records for this area at this time or can throw some light on this it would be appreciated

in the circumstances you might expect an Inquest ( as well as a newspaper article)
Have you checked for an inquest ?

Thanks for that .. I had never considered the Newport Reg Office entry
No trace of an inquest
I believe the newspapers for the area in question are at Cinderford

Hi again, slowhands
I don't think that this family has anything to do with my Watkins line
I think that I'll either have to get a cert from the Newport registration and try and find out if there is any information pertaining to the drowning in the Mercury newspapers kept at Cinderford for 1905/6
Apparently he went out on a boat and never came back (from my late grandmother)
Thanks again - I'll let you know the outcome - your help is much appreciated

There was an accident on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in September 1909 in which several people were drowned. Is this a possibility?
