Free Day on Ancestry Website Sunday 27th (General)

Without wishing to suggest the Ancestry.co.uk website is in any way better than this one, you might like to know that tomorrow they are having a "free access" day. I believe this is a full 24 hours presumably starting midnight tonight, although I cannot recall where I found that info.
I've not used this website myself so expect to maybe find it slow under the strain, and probably bombard me with annoying sales blurb, but hopefully this can still be a usefull experience.

Once again I appear to be
1. talking to my "dumb" pc...
2. appearing a fool...

Is anyone else trying but failing to "enjoy" today's "free" access to Ancestry.
It keeps asking me to sign up for subscriptions, any suggestions gratefully received, many thanks !

You need to register with Ancestry first, there is no charge to register.

The free day is today Census day.

I'm registered but I can't access the files, without a paid membership, either!

Hi, thanks for replies.
I registered yesterday (no credit card etc details, just very basics) and prepared a Family Tree in advance as per Ancestry website instructions. However today, even by following the "correct" links from the site, it didnt appear to be offering anything.

I then started a new tree hoping that might help, at first it didnt seem to, then I started seeing the actual transcribed Census information which I presume is the "free" access, albeit still quite limited with no actual scans etc visible (which I hadn't expected to be honest).

Hope this helps, keep trying and if in doubt try bashing the pc, if nothing else I find it makes me feel better, good luck.
