Updating Records (General)

Is there a way that we can provide information to the site that will enable us to add extra information. EG, I have a marriage register that has know details of the parents and yet from my investigation I can add these details.
This may help researchers fill in some missing gaps.

Additions to Records

Its a bit of a challenge as the transcriptions are supposed to be just what is in the original Registers. Adding information as a note could confuse.

My suggestion is to create an entry here with the information from the transciption and any further information you have to suppliment that transcription .

On ancestry they have a facility to add to records which is seperate to the original record. With so much information coming out of this fantastic sight (FODFH) I feel it would be a great asset to all members.

I agree, such a feature would be nice to have. You must however remember everything on this Web site is free for everybody and I believe it is a good example of what can be achieved when people get together and willingly give their time to help others who are not so fortunate.

The cost of subscriptions to obtain data from the big genealogy sites is not something everybody can afford but with the use of free open source software such as the database, forum and the Web CMS programs which we are using, our intention is to always keep it that way with the help of the volunteers and the donations we receive.

If we had a team of IT people and software programmers like ancestry.com would have, we could add many additional features to the Web site but as I am the only one filling those roles we are always going to be limited to how far we can advance.

Although, it is probably not the answer you would have liked, I believe the suggestion which slowhands made above is the best alternative.
