Upleadon Court and the PERKINS family (General)
My grandmother has postcards of Upleadon House which suggest that it was owned by the PERKINS family (my great great grandmother's parents)some time until around the 1850s. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? Mary Jane PERKINS was born in 1853 and married John Chamberlayne CAVE. They emmigrated to New Zealand but were unhappy there and returned to the UK shortly after. They are both buried in Upleadon.
We also have photographs of her parents (also PERKINS) but they are unlabelled and we don't know their names. We do know that the PERKINS family invented the kinks in the hair-pin and were probably reasonably wealthy.
Does anyone have any information about the Perkins family and/or Upleadon House?
Thanks!
M.
