Richard Embling - two wills (General)

On the records on here is will_03270 proved 1902 - under £16 - lived Blakeney Hill and died 24.12.1901.

Then in 1908 will_03813 under £131 lived Millend, Blakeney and died 24.12.1901.

On his burial record (24.12.1901) at Cinderford Baptist his residence was listed as General Infirmary, Glos.

However, Sarah and Richard Embling lived on Blakeney Hill but then there was a son, a niece, et al living in Millend.

Is it normal to have two wills? I think it is certain that the above mentioned two wills relate to the same person.

I still cannot find any record of a marriage between Sarah Ann Smith (widow) nee Mann(s) and Richard Embling (widower). I am wondering if they married in a registry office.

I have just checked the 2 Wills and in the margin of the first is a note "Revoked by Registrars order 24th Feb 1908"

It appears that the 1st Will was written in September 1898 and then probate was granted at Gloucester in April 1902 after which a 2nd Will must have been found which revokes all former Wills and was written in December 1901 shortly before his death.

In the first Richard Embling bequeaths everything to his much younger 2nd wife Sarah Ann Embling then in the 2nd Will all his estate goes to his niece Mary Ann Worsfold

thank you so much for that - where did you see the wills?

I also was amazed that his estate went up so much in value in those years he was dead. I am glad he left it to his wife Sarah Ann as I can't find the wedding anywhere.

that is fantastic, have looked on all my links and could not find the wedding anywhere. Thank you so much. Obviously there are other places I should have looked. Bless you. Pontypridd makes so much sense as so many of the family were there.
