George Davis - Blakeney Hil - Who is his mother? (General)

by unknown, Saturday, May 07, 2011, 16:10 (4956 days ago)

I have managed to trace my Great Great Grandfather George Davis back to the 1871 Census where he was 24 and living with his wife Anne (nee Waite)on Blakeney Hill.
I am struggling to now work out who his mother was.

I have found George on the 1871,1881,1891 and 1901 census but am struggling with the 1861 census as there are two George Davis, born abt 1871 on Blakeney Hill with a father called John. One of these has a mother called Harriet, the other Elizabeth.

The information I have on George is :

Born abt 1871 Blakeney Hill

Married Anne Waite 14/11/1869 at St Johns Church Cinderford.

Children Thomas, Mary, John, Harriet, George and William.

I would be very grateful if anybody with a greater experience of ancestry research could help me out on this.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Jo

Thank you for spending the time looking for me.

I was swaying towards Harriet because of the reputation of family names, but it threw me with John and Harriet not ageing over the two census'

Can only speak from my own family research, where date/place of birth and even surname given - is different on whatever census they are on. Ages also differ on marriage certificates.

Hi Jo,

George was my great great uncle - his sister Ann was my great great grandmother. Their father was John Davis, born abt 1816 in Tibberton and their mother was Harriet (maiden name unknown at present).

George also had 6 other siblings - William, Elizabeth, Emma, Henry, John and Charles.

Hope this gives you something to go on.

Best wishes,
Tracey
