Strange Names! (General)

by Joanne @, Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 09:48 (4950 days ago)

I have now come across a Samuel Edward DOLPHIN Pritchard who along with his sister Louisa Elizabeth, were b. 1886 and 1889 in Lewisham District, London although they came from a family of 10 children mostly born Woolaston to Samuel Pritchard And Louisa Williams.

DOLPHIN? I wonder where the heck that name came from! I have found other odd names too but this one gave me a giggle so I had to share. Where they were born poses a question - What were Samuel and Louisa doing down in the South East? Baring in mind that they had a child in Woolaston inbetween the two that they had in the Lewisham area!

Hey guys, going through all the info you have given me and BUGGER! Looks likely that Samuel Edward Dolphin Pritchard doesnt belong to my Samuel and Louisa afterall! (and Louisa Elizabeth neither!) Typical huh?

On the 1911 census the widowed Louisa (Samuel had died in 1904) stated that she had 10 children, 8 of whom were still living. Albert, William, George and Florrie (Florence) were with her, John was married and living elsewhere, as was Annie Elizabeth (my 2xG Grandmother), Jane and Elizabeth I am still to find. They of course could be the two children already passed by 1911, but still leaves the birth/baptisms to find for two more children to make ten overall.

What do you guys think?

Jo
