Ann Jenkins nee Gauler. Death details. (General)

by unknown, Saturday, May 14, 2011, 08:23 (4946 days ago)

I am looking for any information about Ann Gauler.
Born 1766, Whitchurch, Herefordshire. Daughter of John and Jane Gauler.
Married James Jenkins ( 1760 - 1849)of Staunton in 1788,in Whitchurch. They later lived in Tidenham at least until 1841. James died and was buried in Tidenham in 1849, but I cannot find out what happened to Ann.
Could it be possible that she returned to Herefordshire when widowed? There is an eighty year old lady in Clyro in 1851.
I know of one son, Joseph (1825 - 1896) but would love to find more children if there are any.
Any information or suggestions would be much appreciated.
(thank you FOD for an excellent site !)

This is a possible burial:
Year: 1850
Month: Jun
Day: 30
Surname: JENKINS
Forenames: Ann
Residence: Tidenham
Age_at_death: 88
Officiating_Minister: J Armstrong Vicar
Event: Burial
Cause_of_death:
Memoranda:
Notes:
Register_Reference: P333/1 IN 1/16
Page_No: 93
Parish_Chapel: Tidenham

Age is out a little but looking at the 1841 Census there was only one Ann Jenkins in residence there at that time.

The following baptisms can be found on this site:
5 October 1788 James to James and Ann at Whitechurch
15 January 1792 James to James and Anne at Tidenham
8 August 1795 Mary to James and Anne at Tidenham
20 November 1796 Joseph to James and Anne at Tidenham
3 March 1799 George to James and Anne at Tidenham

I am not certain that you are looking at the parents of Joseph born 1825. There is a baptism at Whitchurch for a Joseph born c1825 to James and Ann but Ann living at Tidenham would have been 59 or thereabouts and possibly not of child bearing age. There is a marriage at Whitchurch in 1824 between James Jenkins and Anne Christoffe and on 2 October 1796 there is a baptism for James Jenkins at Whitchurch. It would appear that James Jenkins died in 1826 - buried at Whitchurch on 10 February and Ann married a Stephen Phillips on 29 July 1830 at St Martin, Hereford. Stephen and Ann Phillips and Joseph Jenkins are resident at Stroat Hamlet, Tidenham in 1841.Both Stephen and Ann died and were buried at Tidenham in 1875. It would appear that Joseph was an only child.
