Independent Chapel, Monmouth, 1750-1900 (General)
by Denise Thompson , Sydney, Australia, Monday, May 23, 2011, 04:25 (4937 days ago)
In 1845 Ann Chapman married Thomas Taylor at the Independent Chapel in the Town of Monmouth. Can anyone tell me whether BMD Parish Records exist for the Chapel and how long it was operating as a Chapel? I think that the Family History Library Catalog has christening records for the Chapel from 1820-1837, and nothing else.
Regards,
Denise Thompson

The 1871 Post Office Directory for South Wales may have useful info:

Other Monmouthshire FH sites I've checked have Independent Chapel Records links which are now closed but appear to point to the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth

Thank you very much for your input Jefff. I have had no luck connecting to the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, but will persevere.

Good Morning Denise
The Chapel was still in business in 1848 when my 2xGGrandfather Peter Jenkins married Emma Marie Roberts.
The Chapel is now a private house.
I have a picture if you would like to contact me through our contact list.
Kind Regards
Tony Jenkins

Good say Tony, thanks for helping with this.
Please can you confirm if the Independent Chapel is one of those I gleaned from Kelly's, or was/is it somewhere else?
Thanks J

Hi Jefff
I believe the Independent Chapel was in St Mary's street and therefore not on your list.
The Chapel was used by Non Conformists.
The Gwent FHS have produced a CD of records for this chapel.
Kind Regards
Tony
