Abenhall Manor House (General)

The manor house was recorded from 1301 (fn. 1) and the site may have included the hall mentioned in 1444 and 1471. (fn. 2)
In 1481 Thomas and AliceBaynham were licensed to have an oratory in thehouse. (fn. 3) The manor house was occupied
by a tenant by 1625, (fn. 4) and Thomas Dowle, a later farmer of the demesne, was assessed on two hearths in 1672. (fn. 5)
The house stood east of the church (fn. 6) and was demolished with its outbuildings in the mid 19th century. (fn. 7)
