The Emma connected to Nathanael Hayes was a daughter, not sister. Born about 1819/20, but haven't found a baptism. Her daughter, Maria, was baptised at St Mary de Lode on 23/6/1837. Maria appears to have been brought up by Nathanael and wife Charlotte (nee Badger)and is described as a "niece" in both the 1851 and 1861 Censuses. Emma married Richard Emmery at St Mary de Lode on 5/2/1839. Richard disappears from the record at this point. Emma was living in Clare Street for the 1841 Census with another daughter, Emma (b about 1839). Emma (junior) probably died in 1849 - there are two possible GRO references. Emma was living with a John Reed in Sweet Briar Street, Gloucester at the time of the 1851 Census. From the time of the 1861 Census, she was living in Upton St Leonards as the wife of George Taylor. Have been unable to trace a marriage, which may indicate that Richard Emery was still alive somewhere. Upton St Leonards was also where Emma's daughter Maria lived after her marriage to William Gaze in 1868. Emma died in 1891.
