James DALLEY - Natural son James HOARE (General)
In his will dated 1860, James DALLEY butcher of Ross refers to five of his children. We have records for three of them but his reference to 'my Natural son James DALLEY otherwise HOARE' is a mystery. What does this term mean? Was James an illegitimate son born to a woman whos surname was HOARE? There is also a Margaret that I cammot find anywhere. James married three times, firstly to Elizabeth WOORE, then to Mary COLLINS (nee BEALE) and finally to Sarah MILLER (nee SANDERS) Any comments or suggestions welcomed. Thanks Peter.I

Thanks Slowhands, you have found the illegitimate James 1810 - although James 1788 did marry James' 1810 mother Elizabeth Woor later that year. But why on earth did James 1788 call James 1810 his 'natural son James otherwise Hoare'? There is a connection with the Hoares as James 1810 daughter Eliza married Philip Hoare in Ross in 1840 but I don't see that this has any obvious relevance. James' 1810 marriage is also recorded a bit further north in Dymock in 1840. Thanks again, Peter.I

I have seen Hoor and Woare interchanged before - or perhaps its just the transcription
and James is just admitting he is the Father ( OK he married the Mother later !)
