Hello, this is a quick update on the Dowle/Doel/Dole family branch which had moved to Worsbrough, Barnsley in South Yorkshire from Cinderford in Gloucestershire by the time of the 1891 Census. It's a while since I started this research, but I can now prove that my great-grandfather Edward was definitely the brother of Joseph, see below.

CENSUS
1891
Mary Doel abt 1837 Cenderford, Gloucestershire, England Head Worsborough, Yorkshire
Annis Doel abt 1868 Cenderford, Gloucestershire, England Daughter Worsborough, Yorkshire
Edward Doel abt 1871 Cenderford, Gloucestershire, England Son Worsborough, Yorkshire
Thomas Doel abt 1872 Cenderford, Gloucestershire, England Son Worsborough, Yorkshire
Joseph Doel abt 1879 Cenderford, Gloucestershire, England Son Worsborough, Yorkshire

Joseph moved to Gold Street, Barnsley and apparently had a lot of children - perhaps 14 - so if anyone out there is descended from him, please get in touch with me.
No clues on what happened to Thomas or Annis as yet..
Also, it looks like their father was called "Thomas Doel" but still puzzling this one, and it seems he was dead by the time the family had moved to Worsbrough.

NB - in our branch, the name Doel was not standardised to "Dowle" until the 1901 census, see below. As you will note, Edward was "Doel" "Dole" and "Dowle" in his lifetime!

CENSUS
1901
Edward Dowle abt 1872 Gloucestershire, England Head Worsborough, Yorkshire
Mary A Dowle abt 1876 Worsbor Bridge, Yorkshire, England Wife Worsborough, Yorkshire
Edward Dowle abt 1894 Barnsley, Yorkshire, England Son Worsborough, Yorkshire
Elizabeth Dowle abt 1897 Worsborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Worsborough, Yorkshire
Alina (CORR Alma, male) Dowle abt 1900 Worsbor Common, Yorkshire, England Son Worsborough, Yorkshire
