Hartland residing in Carwents 1854 (General)

I live in New Zealand but my great grandfather (farmer) came from Newent parish.
In the 1854 census it gives his father John Hartland residence as Carwents.
Where and what was Carwents.

It appears that this is the name of a farm.

From Slater's 1852 Directory of Newent:

HARTLAND John, Carwents

1851 England Census

Cugley Tything

Ennumeration District 4a, Newent.

From the description of the enumeration district 'Alms House Green, Carwents, Buttridge Court'.

When looking at the image, the property after Buttridge Court is occupied by John Hartland and family, although the name appears as Commons Farm [?].

This ties in with information I have, but what is meant by Commons Farm is that the name of the farm or different.
Many thanks.

And the Kellys 1879 Directory for Newent on this site lists

"Morris Thomas, farmer, Carwents"

http://www.forest-of-dean.net/kellys/Newent_1879.htm

The directories usually give words such as Cugley, Okle, Gorsley, Ploddy House, Baldwins etc etc against each Farmer's name entry, clearly indicating a place/area I think.

I wonder if it's a mispelt relation to the Welsh placename Caerwent ?.

Sure enough Googling "Caerwents, Newent" gives a small cluster of buildings (Farm ?) near Kent's Green, southeast of Newent.
