My great grandfather Charles Moore Lander born 1839, married twice and had children from both marriages who were baptised in Tibberton and Rudford, but I cannot find any trace of him, his wive sor children in census records for 1871 and 1881. In 1891 he and his family were living in Rudford. Can you please help??

Hi Pete
Thanks very much, that is him. I didn't think of looking under 'Launder' - not exactly an English name is it.

Hi

I think the same applies for the 1871 census as there is a Charles Lauder listed in Rudford.

Hi Pete

Yes, that's the right one for 1871 - he was married twice and there are different wives in the two censuses.

This Lander family has been difficult to trace. His second wife was a widow and had been married to a George Hogarth but I can find no trace of that marriage. Not I think in the FoD. His first wife Ann died in c1874 and I did find a reference for her death and sent for the certificate but the GRO couldn't find one.

Thank you very much for your help - much appreciated.

Thats ok,

A part of my family were Lauder so I had the same problem in reverse, as many of them were transcribed as Lander,

HI!

I am trying to research FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION.

I have all of William Henry Lander's relatives laterally and back in tie several hundred years. In total, 4,000 of them.

I had understood that this lineage had died out, so it would be exciting if there is a lineage that continues down to the current era.
