Forest of Dean Memorial - Frank Henry WADE Cambridgeshire (General)

by admin ⌂, Forest of Dean, Monday, July 18, 2011, 11:13 (4881 days ago)

My wife has just discovered an intriguing document in her late father's paperwork.

It is a receipt from stonemasons Layton & Leech (Cambridge) which states:
"To supplying and fixing Forest of Dean Memorial inclusing fees" dated 2 Nov 1944.

We beleive that this refers to Mr Frank Henry Wade who died in Cambridge 18 Nov 1943 (he married my wife's great aunt). We cannot understand why there should be a memorial in the Forest of Dean as the Wade family were from Cambridge.

We would be grateful for any information that you may have.

Forest of Dean Memorial - Frank Henry WADE Cambridgeshire

by HarryBrook @, Monday, July 18, 2011, 17:25 (4881 days ago) @ admin

Is it something as simple as the word 'stone' being missed in the writing or typing of the invoice? Should read 'Forest of Dean stone memorial?
