Thomas HAWKINS born abt 1798 married Mary Ann Roberts bapt 1799 on 29 July 1822 at Watford. Baptisms and births are recorded for Arabella 1823,Thomas 1825, Nathaniel 1828, Ellen 1833, Henry 1835 and Emma 1838 in FOD Parish, Protestant Dissenters and Civil records. At the time of the 1841 census Thomas, a coalminer and his family are living at Coleford meend. Their family starts marrying in the 1840s and Thomas' occupation becomes a coal merchant. I have searched high and low for them in the 1851 census and although there are a lot of Thomas and Mary Hawkins around none are entirely satisfactory. I think Thomas, now a widower and a coal merchant, married Mary Lewton in 1857 but once again I cannot find an entirely credible record for the death of his first wife Mary Ann. I have looked at several certificates and of course the FOD Parish records but nothing looks right. I am not optimistic but if anyone can help me on this or the 1851 census I would be very grateful, Peter
