Gloucestershire Records Office - Non-conformists Data (General)

Those unable to find baptisms/burials for FOD families on the Parish Records, should try the Gloucestershire Genealogical Database and have the 'click' on the non-conformist square (eliminate the other boxes) - especially when just a surname is entered.

as an example - I tried the well known FOD names MEEK/MARFELL - and got lots of 'hits'

when you click on the surname - more information is then on view.

Hi

Good shout, but there are baptisms I found which would be covered by the 90 year rule on here.

My Grandmothers for example would not be displayed on the FOD site

One of the difficulties I have had with the transcription project is finding all the registers that have been deposited at Gloucester Archives in their database. If anyone knows of any registers which have not been transcribed please let me know either directly by email or through the Forum.

Genealogical Handlist Gloucestershire Archives

Details of Church of England and non-conformist registers, monumental inscriptions, census returns, transcripts and indexes held by the Gloucester Archives are listed in their Genealogical Handlist of Genealogical Records

As the handbook was produced in 2000 it is no doubt not up-to-date.
