Edward Ernest WORGAN 1895 Woolaston
by normanelkins , Sunday, August 07, 2011, 12:59 (4861 days ago) @ slowhands
Not sure where to slot my reply into this discussion, but here goes.
The Ernest E is the puzzle.
There is a 1947 death record for Ernest E Worgan (September Quarter 1947 Gloucester City 7b 317 Aged 52). This makes his birth 1895.
Hence my wish to link in a parent and the "E" at the 1920 marriage.
Regards
Norman

Not sure if this is any help but Woolaston registers have Edward Earnest Worgan baptised 7 July 1895 (son of John and Clara papermaker) and Ernest Edward Worgan buried 8 July 1947 aged 42 of Gloucester. Like Slowhands I assume they are the same person.

Thanks for your reply.
The burial at Woolaston does seem to solve the problem. You say the age at death is 42, please could you check this age as I believe it should be 52?

Hi Norman
Yes, sorry, Ernest's (Earnest/Edward/Ewart!) burial should read 52 - sadly a senior moment! Also as Slowhands says, names can often be read in different ways by different people. The Woolaston registers had actually been transcribed locally before the Family History project got under way, and that version definitely has Ernest Edward. It's usually pretty accurate but I'll try to remember to doublecheck next time I'm at the Archives.

I have just relooked at the 1947 Worgan burial at Woolaston on this site. It is for a EWART EDWARD so it looks like an error. It gives the age as 52.
Do you agree this is my man,if so I'll report a possible error?

Norman
Its all in my earlier reply, yes I suspect EWART is "your" man - remember the transciption is just that, " what you see" so it may be that the original is recorded as Ewart, althought I suspect in this case the handwriting just looks like Ewart rather than Ernest.
