William Robins of Aylburton (General)

by Fullers, Thursday, August 11, 2011, 23:00 (4856 days ago)

My g-grandmother Charlotte Preest (nee Robins) was sister to William. She was born 17 June 1850. If Peter Clark who posted the photograph of William in the Aylburton gallery has information on the other children of James and Sarah Robins, I would be delighted to hear from him. In particular a family story that Charlotte's older brother, Matthew, was lost on a ship or boat called the Black Dwarf. Would love to know is this is true or false! I can give information on Charlotte and her direct descendants.

Hi and welcome to this great website.
You may not be aware but as well as a huge database of PRs which is searchable via the blue "button" at top of this page, this Forum is also searchable. I recall for example a thread wrt Black Dwarf a while back here:

http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?id=31999

The website I found during that research is excellent for researching sailors, good luck with it

Hope this helps, Jeff

Matthew Da(u)ncey of Aylburton

by pclark @, Sunday, August 14, 2011, 11:45 (4854 days ago) @ pclark

Hi,

What I do know about Matthew is he was a half brother and was aboard several ships from 1881 and on a ship called St Agnes on the 1901 census and by 1911 his wife Harriett Da(u)ncey(nee Flux) was classed as a widow.

I still have no confirmed death year for him.

Pete
