Last Oct. when I first took up family history, I googled 'Rudge Marstow' and it threw up an exchange on 'Rootschat' from 2005. 'Gary B' of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania had said his GrGrG/F Thomas Rudge married Susan Macklin 17 Dec 1842 at Marstow and after Susan's death he married her sister Maria. Thomas died 27 April 1858 at West Dean. There was a response from 'Shanpage'which said that Susan and Maria Macklin were the only two daughters of his GrGrGrG/F Thomas Macklin. Thomas' three sons headed off to Australia and he was descended from the eldest son.
I left a message to see if they are still interested, but have had no response.
Marstow Parish Register on the marriage in 1842 says that Thomas, a sawyer, is the son of James Rudge, a Labourer. I think James may be my GrGrGrG/F's brother.
