Roynon George Richard MORSE born Gloucester in 1850 (General)
Roynon George Richard Morse was born in Gloucester in 1850. He was the son of Richard Morse born 1811 in Yorkley and Ann Harris who were married in Maisemore in 1839. Richard Morse was a boot and shoe maker in Gloucester and eventually moved to Bristol where he died in 1875. He was also a poet and known as 'Bard of the Forest' and some of his poems are in Gloucester Library.
Two of his daughters Emily and Frances Jane Morris Morse emigrated to Australia in the 1860s. Roynon George Richard Morse was 1871 census at 7 Lower Bedford Place, Bristol, occupation Painter. I have found a marriage for Roynon to Emily Brown, in Bristol on 21 May 1877 and in October that year they had a daughter Maria Ann Morse born Bristol. In 1881 they are living apart, Roynon (spelt Reyan in the census) is living at 1 Thomas Lane, Bristol as a boarder. Emily is living as the 'wife' of Robert Cleeves in Backwell, Somerset and with them is Maria Morse (stepdaughter). Emily and Robert do not actually get married until 1890 in Bedminster. After that I can find no trace of Roynon in any subsequent censuses, nor can I find a death for him. He seems to have completely disappeared! When daughter Maria married Frederick George Bartlett in Bristol in 1898 the father's name is given as Robert Cleeves (Morse). Maria herself dies in 1901. Nor can I find a suitable death for his mother Ann Morse who also disappears after the 1871 census. I believe she survived her husband. Can anyone help?
