FLUCK marriage at Westbury 1799 (General)

by WRAG @, Saturday, October 22, 2011, 03:59 (4777 days ago)

There is a marriage recorded at Westbury on Severn on 15 Aug 1799 "John Fluck of Haworths[?] in County of Worcester & Mary Roberts of Westbury by License." Is there anyone with easy access to the originals who could check if "Haworth" could be something else, perhaps "Staunton?"

Background for FOD members

The Fluck Family of Northern Gloucestershire

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wrag44/index.htm

FOD records - burial of John FLUCK age 72, 25 January 1841(c1769) - of Much Marcle, buried at Staunton near Newent & Mary FLUCK died 7 July 1830 age 51 (c1780)

There are two children Joseph and Elizabeth FLUCK, baptised at Staunton near Newent in 1788 and 1795 - (John & Ann) - then a gap before til 1811 - when children of John & Mary FLUCK appear - under Staunton, Worcestershire on the website but (FOD records, Staunton Near Newent).

Although the marriage in 1799 says Bachelor, this sometimes meant - he literally didn't have a wife at that time, he may have been a Widower.

FLUCK Family of Northern Gloucestershire

This is the very family I am trying to reconstruct. It appears to be:

John Fluck married Ann Kake 13 Dec 1773 Hartpury
* John, baptised 31 Jul 1774 Hartpury
* William, baptised 13 Dec 1778 Eldersfield (as William son of John & Ann Flock of Corse - N.B. Although there is no contemporary Fluck family at Corse, there was one 60 years earlier to which this family may be connected.)
* Joseph, baptised 2 Aug 1788 Staunton
* Elizabeth, baptised 13 Nov 1795 Staunton

It seems likely that John Fluck of Staunton, who married Mary Roberts, 15 Aug 1799 at Westbury, is the child of John and Ann of Staunton, and is also the John baptised in 1774.

It also seems likely, despite the disparity in John's birth year (1774 as against ca. 1769) that John and Mary are:

John Fluck, buried 1841 Staunton, aged 72; and his wife Mary, buried 1830 aged 51, with known children baptised between 1813 and 1820.

The only problem with the above is that word likely appears twice, and that is twice too often to accept without more evidence - particularly on children of John and Mary born between 1799 and 1813.
