Just noticed the following for sale on e-bay:

FOREST OF DEAN 1702

an INDENTURE/ COVENANT BETWEEN THOMAS HOLME

AND WILLIAM BEALE FOR THE LEASE OF LANDS IN

NEWENT AND TAYNTON in the County of Gloucestershire

THIS UNIQUE DOCUMENT GIVES A TANGIBLE INSIGHT INTO THE LIVED AND LEGAL PROCESSES WITHIN THE RURAL COMMUNITY IN ENGLAND.

IT WAS SCRIBED IN THE LATTER PART OF 1702 WHEN THE QUEEN ANNE ASCENDED THE THRONE.

THE SCRIBE HAS COVERED HIS BASES AS IT APPEARS HE WAS NOT TO SURE HOW TO SPELL THE NEW QUEENS NAME SO HAS ADDED, ANA, ANNA.

SIGNED BY THOMAS HOLME IN THE PRESCENCE OF WILLIAM BEALE

AND ELIZABETH PACKER BLACKWELLS.

THE DOCUMENT IS STAMPED WITH TWO SIX PENNY STAMPS,ACCORDING TO LAW. SIZE 8"X 12"

A great opportunity if one of our members is related to the persons mentioned.

Incidentally, I have no connection with this item or it's sale but would love to have found something similar concerning my family history. I hope it finds it's way 'home'.

Cheers
