Free WW1 Records Access on Ancestry 10th - 13th November (General)
It gives me great pleasure to advise that Ancestry are offering free access to their Great War Records to commemorate Remembrance Day. As with their previous "free" events I presume they wont be asking for credit card etc details, as long as you follow the correct procedure each & every time you access the site, and don't stray off topic.
According to the email I've received
"How much do you know about the part your relatives played in the Great War? From 10th–13th November, you can discover every detail with FREE ACCESS to our Service Records, Pension Records, and Medal Index Cards*.
Discover where and when they fought, what medals they earned, whether they survived the war, and much more.
*Our UK WWI Service Records, Pension Records and Medical Index cards will be available to search for free from 00.01 GMT on[*]10 November 2011 until 11:59pm GMT on 13 November 2011. To view these records you will need to register for free with Ancestry.co.uk with your name and email address."
FYI
I am not yet a paying Ancestry subscriber, but by simply signing up as above without any credit card etc details, I've used their website free-of-charge to build and display my Family Trees. The site's free searches can give clues to assist with other websites such as this FoD FH site (of course!), FreeBMD, etc. Also when free access sessions occasionally arise they email me in advance such as the 1901 England Census a few weeks ago, so I can attach extra data such as Census forms and now War Records to my tree. These records such as the actual Census Form photos can also be easily downloaded to your harddrive to keep.
The Free Records should be available via this link

I look forward very much to searching these records from late Thursday night onwards.
