My x cousin, has just come across a journal written by my Great Grandfather William WICKENDEN who lived at Nibley Mill, Blakeney, and was amongst other things, a Haulier, using his shire horses (photos on Blakeney section) and seems to have had a contact with many local farmer, hauling their grain etc - also a slaughter man etc. and occasionally attended inquests.

This journal written between 1892 and 1906 - lists many local names, and the jobs he did for them. This is going to be posted to me in the new year - and I intend to type this out, and make a list of local names mentioned. So far, I've only got one page that was scanned and sent to me - which talks about going to Bullo , hauling Granite - he did help build many local roads in Blakeney, i.e. Finished Stone on Station Road from Adams for Cty. Council 54 and a half yards at 2s per yard (15 December 1897) and paying G GOLDING for Barley (24 Dec 1897). Met Mr J F SMITH, at Awre went rabbitting with Mr O JENNER, killed 28. (9 December 1897)

The one scanned sheet of the journal I have, is larger than an A4 - so the right hand side, is incomplete, but I can see
MORSE name mentioned on 7 January 1898 -

Other names: H LANE, (H TURLEY - who could be Henry TURLEY another Mason) (Mr LIFLEY or LIVLEY- took his goods to Blakeney Station) - William LIVLEY and wife Ann are on FOD records, he was a mason.

Hopefully, this journal give a glimpse into the lives of other FOD researchers ancestors (when I receive it)
