I knew George Tippins who lived at Wye Vale, Wyesham. I was just a kid, 11 when he died, but my dad knew him well. He was probably Mayor of Monmouth at some point, he was a long serving councillor, so there are sure to be references and photographs at the local museum. I was sure he died at Wyesham around 1960, but it looks like his death is recorded in Cheltenham 1961 age 93, George Porter Tippins born 1868
The George "Pate" is an error.

Wyevale was a big house(farm)set among large trees, but it was all cleared to build the new school. We played in the overgrown garden and George would chase us away with his walking stick. George made his money from businesses like brewery he had in Monmouth, I think he owned property and probably Pubs.
