Joseph PARKER born abt. 1788-1789 Mitcheldean (General)
by unknown, Saturday, April 28, 2012, 18:35 (4587 days ago)
I'm looking for information on Joseph PARKER b. abt 1788-1789 in Mitcheldean. In the parish records I did find a Joseph baptized in 1788, son of Joseph and Ann PARKER. Does anyone have further information on this Joseph and Ann? It appears they only baptized one child in Mitcheldean.
Joseph PARKER born about 1788-1789 later moved to the area of Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, Wales and is found there in the 1841 and 1851 census. He was a shoemaker. The 1851 census gives his place of birth as Mitcheldean. Joseph PARKER died 28 Jul 1856 in Monmouthshire. His death certificate gives his age as 67 years old.
Joseph PARKER would be my gggg grandfather. His daughter Jane PARKER married Charles DANDO and their family came to Pennsylvania, USA in 1848.
I would greatly appreciate any additional information anyone could provide on this PARKER family.

Just beginning to look at this and can see Joseph (Shoemaker) - had a son Thomas and (a daughter Jane E PARKER - your line) who married Charles DANDO in 1838 (Trevethin, Monmouthshire)

Thank you for your reply regarding Joseph PARKER.
The census records you sent for Blaenavon area are my family. Joseph PARKER and Mary had three children that I know of: Mary Ann, Thomas and Jane E. Jane E. is my line, marrying Charles DANDO. Mary Ann married William BOWER. I don't know what became of Thomas.
Mary Ann PARKER and William BOWER had a daughter Mary Ann BOWER who married Edmund SAMUEL. This SAMUEL family also came to Pennsylvania. In the 1861 census for Blaenavon showing Mary PARKER - grandmother, age 74, living with Edmund SAMUEL and his wife Mary Ann, she is the grandmother to Edmund's wife, Mary Ann nee BOWER. Mary Ann BOWER's mother was Mary Ann (PARKER) BOWER born abt 1817. All these Mary Ann's can be confusing!
The additional information you sent from Mitcheldean is all new for me. I am looking over all of this new info and seeing how it all fits together! I certainly didn't realize that the BOWER family also had ties to Mitcheldean.
There is so much new information you have sent. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
Regards,
Sue Pastore

Checking the Gloucestershire Records office for Wills

They do hold a Will : William BOWER 1821, Mitcheldean - Will No. 1821/120 - 22 June 1821
FOD records
Burial at Mitcheldean - 13 January 1821 - William BOWER age 60
