As Lydia Ann Treherne is your maternal grandmother. You might be able to help regarding her spouse George Henry Cowmeadow 1882. I can find their wedding in 1906 and his his baptism to Esther Cowmeadow 31 Mar 1882, but do not know her parents. I have 164 Cowmeadow's in my Family Tree and it would be good to make a connection.
As Lydia Ann Treherne is my 1st cousin twice removed, you will be my 3rd cousin.
I have 6 children for George Henry Cowmeadow & Lydia Ann Treherne, 3 of whom died young, but nothing beyond that.

Jim,
I think that this looks a likely candidate:
1871 Census - Goodrich
Henry Cowmeadow 29 Railroad Laborer born Goodrich
Ruth Cowmeadow 31 wife born Whitchurch
Esther Cowmeadow 9 daughter born Goodrich
Mary Ann Cowmeadow 1 Month daughter born Goodrich
Charlotte Cowmeadow 4 daughter born Goodrich
In 1881 (as Hester) she is a servant at Court Farm, Foy.
It would appear from the baptism record you found for George Henry Cowmeadow that he was born in the Ross workhouse which would fit too.
Regards
-Colin

George TREHERNE born Bream 1858
by jimashton , Wednesday, May 30, 2012, 17:23 (4563 days ago) @ trevwill
Trevwill
We will be related as George Treherne 1857/1913 is my Great Great Uncle, one of the 3 illegitimate children of Charlotte Treherne 1820/1890 - the others being Alice 1846 and my Great Grandfather Walter 8 Jul 1854/1923. Walter married Sophia Jane Barnard 1850/1914 and their eldest son Tom Treherne 13 April 1885/25 Jan 1940 married Jane Kate Marfell 27 Jul 1888/16 Dec 1963. Tom Treherne contracted scillicosis and the whole family moved to Croydon, where I was born.
You will no doubt have read the links that slowhands provided and as I have not re-read them I may be duplicating information here, but from your original posting you wish to know about the ancesters of George Treherne so going back - his mother Charlotte was the daughter of Joshua Treherne 1772/1845 & Mary Jenkins 1786/1846. Joshua was the son of George Treherne 1748/1814 & Susanna White 1750/1825. Susanna White was the daughter of Richard White 1721/1780 & Elizabeth Collier, Richard White the son of James White 1689/1726 & Susanna White 1690, James White the son of Thomas White 1650 & Elizabeth, Thomas White the son of John White & Elizabeth Lawrence. As you can see my information for the Treherne's only goes back to George 1748.
George Treherne 1857 committed suicide in Coleford Police Station on 11 Mar 1913. His death certificate shows death by strangulation whilst of unsound mind, location Coleford Police Station. An inquest was held 12 Mar 1913 and he was buried 15 Mar 1913. I have not seen any press coverage for the death by strangulation in a Police Station.
I have 10 children for George Treherne 1857 & Sophia Collins 1860/1901, with marriages and some descendants for 6 of their children, but know nothing about Alice 1899 or Charlotte E 1900. Some of their children emigrated - Isaac Collins Treherne 1888 emigrated to Australia with wife Annie Bibey, Sidney 1890 emigrated to Canada with wife Florence Davis 1894, Martha Elizabeth Treherne 1899 to Australia with husband James Absolem Barnett 1896.
I have some knowledge concerning Sophia Collins - her father James Collins 4 Jun 1821 Berkshire was killed in Trafalgar Mine 2 Jun 1870 he was an Inclineman - In attaching a loaded tram to a set the trigger slipped on a sleeper and the set backed and crushed him to death. If you have traced her ancestors, I would appreciate any information regarding Sophia's maternal grandmother Sophia Roberts 1804/1836 wife of Richard Harris 1792/1875. I have 384 Roberts in my family tree and I would be interested to know who her parents are.
