Thomas TERRETT 1789 Newchurch MON ?

by Gran, Tuesday, June 05, 2012, 21:09 (4560 days ago) @ slowhands

I very much like the Thomas from Newport Mon, but cannot find a Mary from the same sourse so I am leaving my options open at the moment. Thomas Married in Bristol in 1810 and remained there after. He mentioned Mary in his will and William (Farmer) in his Marriage cert when he re-married in 1842.Thank you Slowhands.

Dear Ivor,
Thanks for the reply, and sorry it has taken so long, I sort of gave up!!! Thomas Terrett and Hannah Newsman are mine, I always thought that he married twice, once in 1800 to Mary Whiting, they even used the same witness, but aparently that was another Thomas Terrett because TT and MW were still having children after my Thomas Married Hannah in 1810. I have the Bristol Baptisms disc, but I had to go to the original Mormons list all my Terretts were wrong in the disc, for instance when Thomas was baptized on 2.5.1790 to John and Mary Terrett, they were listed as Trimnell !!!!
I have sent for the Marriage list now, hopefully that will clear up some things, thank you again for your help, as I live in NZ it is not as easy as popping down the road, you have China Star below your name, do you live in China?
Regards

Thomas TERRETT 1789 Newchurch MON ?

by Gran, Wednesday, June 06, 2012, 04:20 (4560 days ago) @ slowhands

Hannah and Thomas were my 4x G Grandparents, there were some earlier Terretts in Bristol, but aparently William was a Farmer. I suppose William could have moved around and had a Mary elswhere. strangly there was no Mother mentioned in the record at Mon, at least none that I can find.

Thomas TERRETT 1789 Newchurch MON ?

by Gran, Thursday, June 07, 2012, 08:03 (4559 days ago) @ m p griffiths

Thank you M P Griffiths, and Slowhands
I am descended through Charles and his son Frederick.. I always worked on the assumption that Thomas had descended from John the tailor, he had a Mary too! Then the 2nd Marriage cert came up with William as the Father
It says Full for both the ages.

I do not know which of the 2 deaths in 1848 is my Thomas but I surmise that one of them is as he wrote his will in 1848. I have a copy.

Mary had a private income presumably provided by her Father. Perhaps you could email me about this.
The Mary Terrett in Glos is interesting

The Ancestry message was from me, also the quote from website, I have been working on it since 1984 and they were both written some time ago.

The Land tax redemption is interesting because there was a marriage in 1780 between a William Terrett and a Mary Boughton at Lydney (licence) the bride was from Westbury.

I Would like to see some more baptisms from the WT of Ross, haven’t found any yet.

The marriage betw. TT and Mary Whiting 23.11.1800 witness 1 John Simms Witness 2 Harry Dimmock.
Marriage bet. TT and Hannah Newman 12.8.1810 witness 1 R K Dimmock witness 2 unreadable
2nd Marriage TT and Lucy Davis 4.9.1842 Witness 1 George Cole witness 2 S Dimmock
All marriages took place in St. Pauls Church Portland Square.
