Edwin and Amy Savagar, both born in Herefordshire (General)

by Lesley, Thursday, August 10, 2006, 11:47 (6681 days ago)

I am looking for any descendants of Edwin and Amy Savagar, both born in late 1860s in Herefordshire and living at Ocle Pitchard in 1901 and later in the parish of Pauntley, Glos. One of their sons, James Stephen, was killed during the First World War and I am trying to find some more information about him. There is a small but almost illegible memorial in Pauntley churchyard to some of the family. Any information gratefully received!

Thanks for your reply. I think that Edwin must be James Savagar's father. I will have a look at the photos - I haven't managed to get any yet as I haven't been able to track down any other relatives but I'll let you know if I do.

James Savagar was my mothers uncle, being one of seven, his sisters were Bessie, Mabel, Edith, Laura and Amy - my grandmother, who married Arthur Cook. I have Jimmy's medals, his brother George was also killed in WW1. My mother Eileen is now 84.

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping to trace some descendants of Amy but had so far not been able. I am writing a small book on the men commemorated on the war memorial in Pauntley, Gloucestershire, which includes James. I have so little information on James that, if you would be willing to give me any more information and perhaps let me see his medals, perhaps you would email me. Many thanks.
