Taysum, Hayward and Weale (General)
by admin , Forest of Dean, Friday, August 11, 2006, 06:49 (6671 days ago)
Hello all,
I've just stumbled upon a Forset of Dean connection. I've always known my great-great Grandmother was from Cinderford but was never sure of her maiden name or when exactly she was born.
She was Annie WEALE b 1852 in East Dean, Cinderford
Father John WEALE b 1828 in Whitecroft wife not known yet
Annie's Grandparents:
John WEALE (b 1805 in Clayhill/?Cleehill, Salop) and Elizabeth HAYWARD (b 1805 in Little Dean) . They were married in Newland 5 June 1824.
Their children (including John above)
Adam b 1826 Whitefoot
John b 1828 Whitefoot
Phoebe b 1830 ?Ruradean
Fanny b 1834 Cinderford
Ann b 1836 Ruradean
Thomas b 1836 Ruradean
Mary b 1839 Ruradead
Male b 1841 Ruradean
Elizabeth HAYWARD's parents seem to have been Samuel HAYWARD b 1765 and Sarah TAYSUM b 1767 both from Westbury on Severn from where there were married 1 Jul 1788
Elizabeth HAYWARD's grandparents seem to have been Samuel HAYWARD b 1731 from Westbury on Severn and Mary PARRY/PERRY dob not known both. Married at Westbury on Severn 27 Jul 1756.
Has anyone got any Haywards, Taysum's or Weale's in their tree? - I only spotted one Hayward posting on the whole forum
This lot seemed have moved in and out of the forset area a lot - many were miners.
Gladly swap info with anyone for whom these surnames are familiar
Many thanks

Hi there,
Know your post is old, but I thought I would drop you a line! I'm not sure how far you got with your research since, but just incase...
I've recently discovered I'm related to a Sarah Taysum/Taysom(e) born 1807 of Arlingham, being my g-g-g-grandmother.
There are many Taysum's mainly from the Arlingham area. There are now 3 Sarah Taysum's in my tree tho, but cannot see one b. 1765. Will keep looking though! 'My' Sarah's father was Aaron Taysum and her Grandfather was also Aaron Taysum, both were important men in the church at that time (will double check but think they were both clerks of the parish). There is a memorial plaque in the church that I have obtained a pic of.
Did you have any lucky with your research at all?

Not sure if we are of the same Hayward's, but my 4x-great grandfather was Charles Hayward who married Mary ? in the same area. His son William Hayward was born 1832 and married Mary H. Weston born 1835. In 1861 they lived at 6 High Street in Arlingham he was a brick maker. Charles and Mary's daughter was Ellen Hayward (the so-called witch of the Forest of Dean). William and Mary's children were Char;es E.W., Edward C., Edith C., Joseph, Mary A., Frederick W., Olive and ?
If you have any matches/info....please pass it on.
Thanks

SO far I haven't come across any of those Hayward, but still searching. Go on Ancestry.com and you can view my tree with all the Haywards on it. It's called O'Neill Family Tree. Good Luck!
