Thanks for your help again, much appreciated! There is so much history just in this one road, I shall be researching forever I think!

Contacting you off-line - as I know one of your neighbours in Millend - who took my husband and I all around the area - and knows a lot of history - even has a little ornament with Awre Parish Coat of Arms on it. Remember him telling us about an Old Mill that had stood there, hence the name.

and Millend, my x Grandad, next door

William WICKENDEN - Mar 39 - Butcher & Dealer, born Rendcomb + his family (1901 Census at Nibley Mill, Blakeney )

- His work log over a ten year period, has him killing local animals for people inc.pigs for the Merlin Bros , and transporting goods around for local folk (hay/dung/anything in fact inc a Fowls House from Nibley for HOWELL - got 2 pence for that - and taking the Rev A D PRINGLE around - 1 horse and waggon - 1 day - 7s) - with his shire horses and helping lay the roads around Blakeney - collecting stone for Bullo/oak trees etc. e.g. 1891, for Workeman & Co. 509 Oak Trees, 5068 feet at twopence halfpenny a foot - 1891 Awre Local Board Stone - 50 yards at 2/3 etc etc

Richard STANLEY - 33, from Worcester*, Alfred PREEN, 36 from Kingstanley, Isaac CURTIS, 31, from Sapperton, and William BENNETT - 33 from Wexford.
