I wish to restate my admiration and gratitude for this truly marvelous website, it has helped change my life for the better in what has otherwise been a deeply difficult two years for me. Personally I'm happy to make a financial contribution to the running costs, quite probably repeated on a regular basis as & when necessary. However I really don't think it will help the longterm healthy future of the site if this becomes obligatory. I feel it will put a lot of new people off posting due to the perceived "hassle factor" not-to-mention genuine fear of potential problems associated with making internet payments, which is perhaps more offputting than the actual fee itself would be.

I know this is a somewhat addictive hobby, and many people who perhaps only ever intended using the site once or twice eventually get hooked and start posting against other people's queries rather than just their own research, so adding-to and improving the forum and website knowledge base for everyone else.
Once I stumbled across the site 2 years ago I was regularly using it for my own researches for a year or so, including searching & learning from the forum's old threads, before I actually ventured to posting trying to help others. Even those who only post once or twice can add immensely to the site, especially if they're starting a line of research that hasnt been covered before, which then becomes a record for other later researchers to use.

So yes, I agree costs must be met, but please dont make it obligatory for all.
Thanks, Jeff.

A proud Dean ironworker now exiled in Middlesex.... so this website has been a Godsend
