BARNARD William Naboth b1871 Mitcheldean (General)
by acarrew , Friday, December 14, 2012, 17:44 (4357 days ago)
Hello there.
I am trying to find any information on my wifes Great grandfather William Naboth Barnard, according to the 1911 and 1901 census he was born in 1871 in Mitcheldean.
We do not know of any brothers or sisters or the names of his parents.
We know his second child Beatrice was born in Herefordshire in 1897 and then he moved to London, from there we have the rest of the story.
During the great war he owned a farm in Suffolk and so we can only assume he came from a farming background.
There a few things we are finding a little confusing, firstly we have a marriage certificate and he is the father and he is called Naboth on it and yet in some census returns he is just William.
Secondly we know he was from Mitcheldean, but are Mitcheldean and East Dean known as the same as there are a few Barnards from East Dean.
Our tree is posted on Ancestry.co.uk if its of interest to anyone.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who may have anything to add to the puzzle.
Kind regards
Andy

Naboth BARNARD 1873 - 1958 Plump Hill -> Acton
by john barnard , Monday, April 08, 2013, 23:38 (4242 days ago) @ slowhands
Hello Andy,
Just by some chance I just happened to see your posting on Google that you were looking for some information. Naboth Barnard was my grandfather but I never remember him as I believe he died in 58. ( I was 2 at the time).
He was a pit boy at age 10 but moved to London to start a horse drawn taxi service to which King Edward awarded him a prize for a fabulous horse he had around 1903.
One of his sons was George Edward Barnard who was my Dad , to which I was born and raised in London, but emigrated to the US many years ago.
Naboth's Dad was named James and apparently I heard there is a portrait of him in the speech house in the middle of the forest of Dean somewhere . He had a long bushy red beard and was married to either Emma or Matilda.
I'm curious to know if this information might be helpful to you.
Let me know when time,
Best regards,
John.

Hello again
I have done a lot of work on the family since I last contacted you all but, there is one thing I can not find anything about and that is the marriage of Naboth William Barnard and Alice Annie Jenkins.
On my family tree on Ancestry on the 1911 census it states they have been married for 17 years so that takes back to around 1894.
Here is a link to the site http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/48481134/family?cfpid=12897550604
I really would appreciate any leads on this because Ive spent hours looking, I am guessing it is either un-traceable or it is blindingly obvious.
Look forward once again for any help.
Many thanks
ANDY
