Thanks, Very interesting website, worth a good look.

With regards to the marriage of Richard and Alice Rogers 1646 I did look at that and on the scan it doesn't mention any details of whether they were of the parish or widowed.

I can not find any children to a marriage of Richard and Alice before 1654, Westbury anywhere in country.

My other avenue of thought is that John Shott son of Richard and Alice, was successful in London belonging to the Barber and Surgeon Guild and left a will when he died in 1741 - the will was written in 1739 when he was 79. There is a few references to kinsman and cousins although they are more likely to be nephews, nieces or 2nd cousins at his age. None of the family were mention in Worcester of the Forest of Dean area - my 6 x great grandfather William Shott was mentioned although called a cousin. A kinsman called Edward Shott was mentioned living in Uxbridge but I can not find any trace. Thought that might help me work out where Richard Shott originated from.

I have tried tracing some of the names mentioned in the will but are not having much luck - but I will have another go. John mention a cousin called Katherine Bryan of uxbridge and it may be a totally coincidental but there is a marriage to a Owen Bryan in London mid 1680s to a Martha Shott and John had an older sister called Martha.

Does anyone know where the early wills of the Forest of Dean are or any in the Gloucestershire area, may try and find whether they mention a son called Richard Shott in them.

Kind Regards

Debs
